Spareribs and Sauerkraut

3 country style pork ribs
1 white onion
1 bag sauerkraut
salt and pepper
1 C water

Heat oil in a pot. Add onions and saute until transparent. Add spareribs and brown on all sides. Add sauerkraut and 1 cup of water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover and simmer for two hours.

This dish also works well in a pressure cooker.  Brown the onions, sear the pork, top with sauerkraut and reduce water to a half cup.  Pressure cook on high for 23 minutes.
